Can Brazil continue to slow deforestation in the Amazon?

Los arboles en las Amazonas son cortan para plantar maiz. Government officials say that Brazil is doing it "to survive." However, there are many people that disagree. The Brazil nut tree takes up to 400 years to grow where as the corn plant only takes four months. Some argue that the Brazil nut tree is a staple to traditional Amazon life and should not be taken away. 

Motorcycle Diaries

Cuando mire "Motorcycle Diaries", yo aprendí y reconocí la diferencia en los países. Some of the countries have a slight difference in their dialect and their use of slang. I would compare it to the way we speak in Texas and the way people speak in New York.

Caldo

Tradicionalmente, caldo es mas o menos un "broth". Pero, mi tia lo hace con espaguetis, pollo, y verduras. Verduras como tomatoes, celery, and peppers fueron utilizados en su version.

Thanksgiving

Para Thanksgiving, yo fui a la casa de mi amiga mejor en Lubbock, Texas. Comimos cado y chile con pan de maiz. Con toda la familia alli, celebramos y dimos gracias.

Locro

Locro es una sopa comun del Ecuador y Peru. It is a potato cheese soup that comes in several variations. A version common to Argentina is made with vegetables and meat. Chopped avocado, as seen here, is used as a garnish and for a touch of extra flavor.

Diego Rivera

Diego Rivera es muy famoso para pintando los murales en Mexico. This is only one of his masterpieces but Mexico is filled with his talent. Diego Rivera was married to Frida Kahlo who is also a famous artist.

Imprisoned and overseas

Un cuidadano de EEUU fue dejado salir de la prision en Peru. She was involved with rebellion activists in Peru in the early 90s and has been imprisoned since 1995. She will potentially be reincarcerated.

La Tormenta Perfecta

En Costa Rica, una tormenta paso por el pais que mato a 23 personas. On Friday, residents of the country were busy cleaning up the ruins that the storm left behind. According to the story posted on CNN.com, 800,000 people were left without safe water. All of the casualties have left the country in mourning.

Comida de celebracion

Pan de Muerto es el pan del celebracion. Es un pan muy rico y dulce, perfecciona para la tradicion. Tambien, es hecho para parecerse a craneos a veces.

Celebrar!

Esta es la tiempo para celebracion. Este fin de semana, pais de hispanola y mexicana celebran el tradicion de Dia de Los Muertos. Los gentes respetan sus miembros de familias muertos.

Mi favorito dulce!

Este dulce es llama Mexican Brownies. Son hechos con canela y pimento picante. The cinnamon and pepper give it just a little extra flavor but definitely make these brownies stand out.

Freed prisoners

El Jueves, Cuba liberto a cinco presos. After the reign of Fidel Castro, the catholic church began to release "political opposition leader" prisoners. President Obama gave his input saying that it was a positive change; releasing the political prisoners. Cuba is hoping for a lot of change in the future.

Fajitas de pez

Estos fajitas son hechos con pez, limon, y salsa verde. Staying true to it's mexican heritage, these fajitas are made with mahi mahi and a salsa of traditional tomatillos. Avocados and limes help to give a contrasting flavor that balance out eachother.

Chilean mine rescue

Entonces este tarde, algunos de los mineros estan a salvo. Thirty-three Chilean miners were trapped during a mining accident for 69 days. However, they are now being rescued. Many of the men have been mining for their entire life so they say they will not give up their career; even after this.

Churro

El churro es un dulce para los carnivales y fiestas. Typically seen in America at places like Six Flags and at the State Fair, the churro is a favorite among fair goers. It originated as a treat in Mexico and has now spread to become popular all over Spanish speaking countries.

Chimichanga

La chimichanga es un plato mexicano muy deliciso. Para hacerlo, necesito carne, queso, y una tortilla. It is similar to a traditional burrito however, it is fried to a crisp. It can be served with any type of meat and with or without cheese. Es mi plato favorito :)

Goya

Franciso Goya fue un artisto romantico y un pintor para la realeza de Espana. This painting is a representation of Goya's views on the criminally insane. While he was painting during this era of his career, he began to have a mental breakdown himself. His paintings unveiled his own state of mind, not just his opinions.

Drug traffickers in Nicaragua

En Nicaragua, Coast Guard de los Estado Unidos fue atacado por contrabandistas de drogas. The suspected drug traffickers fired shots at the U.S. Coast Guard officials on international waters. However, after the suspects crossed into Nicaraguan waters, they managed to get away escaping the U.S. forces. No damage was done to any U.S. property or people.

Frida Kahlo es una artista muy talenta y bien conocido por las personas. This is only one of her many famous paintings but it speaks about her life from her point of view. Ella fue muy extraordinario y cumplido su destino compartiendo sus ideas.

Hurrican threatens life

Although Hurricane Karl only resulted in two deaths as it swept through Mexico, it definitely threatened everyday life. La tormenta destruyo las cuidades por arruinando las casas y llevandose coches en la inundacion. People became stranded and homeless in the blink of an eye. Without fair warning, the gulf coast of Mexico is now struggling to rebuild.

Mariposa

Las mariposas estan liberte y bonita. Estan vuelan con un proposito pero yo no se lo que el proposito es a causa de las sombras. The shadows make the painting confusing because one is cut off and the other is not. The artist, Dali, paints in the style of surrealism and this painting is a perfect example.

Crocodile Sanctuary attacked

Una pareja del Estados Unidos, Cherie y Vince Rose, vivieron en Belize en un santuario de crocodila. Natives, who thought that the Rose's had kidnapped two of their children and fed them to the crocodiles, destroyed the sanctuary and the Rose's lost everything. They natives attacked the house and set it on fire. Luckily, the couple wasn't home and survived the attack.
